What is a voice chip?
A voice chip is an integrated circuit (IC) designed to store, decode, and play back pre-recorded audio or voice messages. It is widely used in smart home devices, household appliances, medical equipment, toys, security systems, industrial control products, and IoT devices to provide voice prompts, alarms, and interactive audio.
How do I choose the right voice chip for my product?
Choosing the right voice chip depends on several factors, including:
- Audio storage capacity
- Sound quality requirements
- Power consumption
- Operating voltage
- Playback method (Key, UART, SPI, I²C, One-wire, etc.)
- Whether voice updates are required
- Speaker power requirements
Our engineering team can recommend the most suitable solution based on your application.
What is the difference between OTP and Flash voice chips?
OTP (One-Time Programmable) voice chips can only be programmed once and are ideal for high-volume products with fixed audio content.
Flash voice chips allow voice content to be updated multiple times, making them suitable for products that require frequent firmware or voice updates during development or after production.
Can your voice chips support MP3 playback?
Yes. Some Waytronic voice chips support MP3 decoding, while others use ADPCM or WAV formats depending on the product series. MP3 playback is recommended for applications requiring high-quality audio and larger storage capacity.
Can I update the voice after production?
Yes, if you select a Flash-based voice chip. Audio content can be updated through UART, USB, or dedicated programming tools depending on the product model. OTP chips cannot be updated after programming.
Do you provide development tools and programming software?
Yes. We provide development boards, programmers, PC programming software, sample code, user manuals, and technical documentation to help customers complete product development efficiently.
