Why Choose WT588F02-8S-C
Frequently Asked Questions
What audio formats does the WT588F02-8S-C support?
The WT588F02-8S-C supports WAV format with a sampling rate up to 16kHz (mono) and MP3 format with a sampling rate up to 24kHz.
What is the standby current consumption?
The standby current is extremely low, less than 5µA, making it ideal for battery-powered applications.
Can I update the voice content after the chip is manufactured?
Yes. Unlike traditional OTP chips, the WT588F02-8S-C supports online voice replacement via MCU or a dedicated downloader. Both the main program and Flash data can be erased and reprogrammed.
How many voice address segments are supported?
The WT588F02-8S-C chip supports over 1,000 address segments. The addressing mode is automatically set to single-byte (for less than 224 segments) or double-byte (for 224 segments or more).
What communication interfaces are available?
WT588F02-8S-C supports 1-wire serial (DATA only) and 2-wire serial (CLK + DATA) communication. UART and IIC interfaces are also in development and will be available soon.
What is the maximum voice duration?
With high-quality audio, it supports up to 170 seconds. In standard quality mode, it can store up to 320 seconds of voice content.
Can the PWM output drive a speaker directly?
Yes, the 16-bit PWM output can directly drive an 8Ω 0.5W speaker. For higher power requirements, external amplifier ICs like WT1312 or WT4890 are supported.
Are there any special considerations for the IO2 pin?
Yes. Do not add an external pull-up resistor to IO2. A high level on IO2 during power-up may cause the IC to enter a non-working mode.
What is the operating voltage and temperature range?
The operating voltage is 2.2V to 5.5V, and the operating temperature range is -20°C to +85°C. The chip is functional down to -40°C.
How to perform loop or continuous playback?
Use the F2 (FFF2) command for loop playback of the current voice. Use the F3 (FFF3) command for continuous playback (chained playback) of up to 64 segments. The F4 (FFF4) command supports chained loop playback.
Important: Do not add a pull‑up resistor to IO2; a high level on IO2 during power‑up may cause the IC to enter a non‑working mode. For PWM output with 4Ω speakers, series ferrite beads are recommended for EMI suppression.
