Yes. All programmers require the MCU pins connected to the voice chip to be set to high‑impedance (floating) state before programming. Failure to do so may cause download conflicts and result in FAIL status.

IndicatorMeaning
POWER (solid)Power is supplied normally
COPY / DOWN (blinking)Programming in progress
OK / SUCCEED (solid)Download successful
NG / FAIL (solid)Download failed – check connections and file
Green + Red flashing togetherFirmware version mismatch between programmer and chip
Red flashes 4 times then solidBin file exceeds chip capacity

Possible causes:

  • The toggle switch is not set to “Burn/Download” mode.

  • The programmer is not properly connected via Type‑C.

  • The CH340 driver is not installed (for CH340‑based programmers).

  • The drive letter appears only when the programmer is in download mode – check the mode switch.

Solution: Install the CH340 driver, set the switch to “Download” mode, and reconnect.

USB Downloader V2Limited by target chip capacity
WT588 Test Board V4Limited by target chip capacity
WT UART Writer V1.00Limited by target chip capacity

Note: Always check the target chip’s maximum Flash capacity (e.g., WTV380: 475KB, WT2003H: 4472KB).

Yes. The WT2003H/WTV Programmer supports offline programming:

  1. Load the .bin file to the programmer via PC.

  2. Disconnect from PC.

  3. Connect the programmer to the target chip.

  4. Press the MUTE/START button to start the download.

The programmer will power‑cycle the chip and automatically transfer the data.

SPICS + CLK + MOSI + MISOWT588F02B, WTN6040F, WT588E02B, Flash

All programmers support mode switching via software or onboard keys.

Possible causes:

  • Incorrect wiring – check VCC, GND, TX, RX, and protocol‑specific pins.

  • The chip is externally powered – the programmer must supply power to the chip during download.

  • The chip is damaged or not properly seated in the socket.

  • The wrong adapter board or chip package is used.

Solution: Use the programmer’s 3.3V output to power the chip, verify wiring, and re‑seat the chip.

Yes. Most Voice IC Development Tools support online testing after programming:

  • WT588 Test Board V4 – switch to “Serial Test” mode; use onboard keys or UART commands.

  • Voiced Sample Box V9.00 – press +/- keys to play addresses; UART commands also supported.

  • WT2003H/WTV Programmer – use the “Online Test” tab in the software.

  • WT2605 Test Fixture – use onboard keys (Play, Next/Prev, Stop, Mode).

Important: For SPI‑FLASH downloads, use 3.3V via VCC – do not use USB power.

Method 1 – Onboard keys: On test boards like Voiced Sample Box V9.00 or WT588 Test Board V4, long‑press the +/- keys to cycle between 1‑wire, 2‑wire, IIC, SPI, and UART modes.

Method 2 – UART commands: Send mode‑switch commands via PC serial tool at 115200 baud (Voiced Sample Box) or 9600 baud (some other tools):

ModeCommand
1‑wire7E 04 A1 00 A5 EF
2‑wire7E 04 A2 00 A6 EF
IIC7E 04 A3 00 A7 EF
SPI7E 04 A4 00 A8 EF
UART7E 04 A5 00 A9 EF

Method 3 – Software: Use the PC software (e.g., WT2003H Downloader) to select the mode before downloading.

Step‑by‑step recovery:

  1. Reset the programmer – press the RST/RESET button (available on WT2003H/WTV Programmer, WT UART Writer).

  2. Re‑flash the firmware – place the WTUSB*.bin upgrade file on the USB drive and long‑press the START button during power‑up (for USB Downloader V2).

  3. Check the LOG.TXT – most programmers generate a log file on the USB drive after each operation. Review it for error details.

  4. Re‑format the USB drive – if the programmer is not recognized, format the drive (FAT32) and try again.

  5. Contact Waytronic support – if all else fails, contact your sales representative for a firmware upgrade file or replacement unit.

Note: Do not interrupt the upgrade process (power loss or button press during upgrade) – this may corrupt the programmer’s firmware and require a full re‑flash by the factory.
